Getting started

1. Set a sale period: in the app, open Sale periods, select “Select products and set a period”, choose your products, then set the sale start and end and what should happen outside that period (unpublish, mark as sold out, or stay visible but can’t be bought). Select Save.
2. Add the countdown to your product page (app block): in the app, open Storefront and select “Add to product page”. The theme editor opens with the Sale countdown block added to your product template. Move it where you want it and select Save. To add it by hand, open a product page in the theme editor and choose Add block → Apps → Sale countdown. Text, colors and the “almost over” threshold are set in the block’s settings.
3. Turn on the announcement bar (app embed): in the app, open Storefront, save your campaign period and select “Enable in theme”. The theme editor opens with the Sale period announcement bar switched on — select Save. To do it by hand, open App embeds at the bottom left of the theme editor and switch on Sale period announcement bar.
4. Check the purchase block: in the app, open Storefront and check that Purchase block shows Enabled. It’s enabled automatically when you install the app.

You never need to edit theme code. If you remove the app, the block and the app embed are removed from your theme as well.

Frequently asked questions

How precise is the switching?

The app checks the time every minute, so switching happens up to 1 minute after the time you set. The countdown itself changes to “Sale ended” exactly at the end time.

What happens to products before their start time?

Products with a sale start in the future are unpublished from the Online Store until then, and published at the start time.

The product was published but doesn’t appear in my store

Check that the product status isn’t Draft. Shopify only shows products whose status is Active.

Can I change the dates on the Shopify product page instead?

Yes. Changes to the Sale start and Sale end metafields are picked up by the app automatically.

Which languages does the app support?

English and Japanese. The app follows the language each staff member has chosen in their Shopify admin.
